Grand Opening & Installation Dinner

The Chamber's Grand Opening celebraion will be next Friday, June 18th. This is a MAJOR accomplishment for our community. It has been a goal of ours to have a visitor center for at least 25 years. Thank you ALL for your wonderful support in getting this project completed.

The June 18th Grand Opening celebration is next Friday. This will be great fun as well as an opportunity to thank all the donors and volunteers who made this happen. You'll also be able to see our new office and Visitor and Business Resource Center, as well as the newly restored Mutual Telephone Company (now Hawaiian Tel) built in 1924. This historical building has many elements of classic plantation architecture. We will also have a special guest performer, Owana Salazar!

The RSVP's are due this Thursday the 10th. Please send it in along with your payment today.

If you are unable to attend on the 18th, please stop by and visit us in our new digs! It's so comfortable, you may never leave!

Chamber of Commerce Announces Grand Opening!

North Shore Chamber of Commerce's Grand Opening and Installation Dinner is set for June 18th at the new Chamber building located at 66-434 Kamehameha Highway, across from the Haleiwa Post Office. The program will be from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm beginning with pupus and no-host cocktails. A dinner and program will follow at 6:30 p.m.

Please join us in honoring all tradesmen, volunteers and donors who made our new home, visitor and resource center possible and install the new Board of Directors. The cost will be $25 for chamber members, $30 for non members, $250 for corporate table, and $500 for sponsor table.

Donations for this very worthwhile building project are still being accepted and are completely tax deductible. If you are interested in supporting the preservation of this historic building, please make checks payable to "NSCOC" and mail them to P.O. Box 878, Haleiwa, HI 96712. Update on Chamber's New Home and Cancellation of Installation Dinner

Aloha Members,

We announced at our April 30, 2009 meeting that the permit to finish the Telephone Exchange Building (TEB) project is ready to be issued. We are excited that we can now move this much-anticipated project forward to create a home for the Chamber as well as a visitor center for the North Shore. The board of directors wants to move this project along as quickly as possible and we expect that it will take significant efforts from us over the next several months.

In order to focus on the completion of the TEB we decided to cancel the Installation dinner, tentatively scheduled for the beginning of June. Once we are at or near completion, we are planning to have a blessing of the Chamber’s new home and welcome all of you to celebrate your efforts to save a Haleiwa landmark. We are excited about putting the building to many more years of service to the community and historic Haleiwa.

Many members have been very generous with their support in purchasing corporate sponsorships and bricks honoring their friends and family. Thank you very much. However, we need to raise more money and would really appreciate your support to help complete the TEB project by purchasing a brick or corporate sponsorship if you have not done so already. Please fill out the attached form and mail it in with your donation.

In regards to the bricks that have already been ordered, the landscaping and walkway will be the last items to be constructed. We will work as fast as we can to get the project completed so that you may come and admire your brick(s)!

Reserve the Date! Governor Lingle Confirmed for Installation Dinner on June 4th!

We've just confirmed that Governor Lingle will attend our annual Installation Dinner Wednesday, June 4th 2008. The theme will be “A Sustainable Future for the North Shore .” One hears the word “sustainable” all the time now, but what would a sustainable future look like? A 21st century economy and jobs, “Being Green” and “Buying Locally” with food grown on the North Shore would all be a part of that future.

The children of today will determine what happens tomorrow. Well-educated, innovative young people will be needed to make a sustainable future happen….young people like the Kahuku High and Intermediate School ’s “We the People” team that just took the state championship and represented Hawaii at the national competition in Washington D.C. This team has been state champions 14 out of 15 years and will be honored at the dinner.

This event is a time when you can see old friends, make new ones, network and have a great time. Please join us.

When: Wednesday June 4th from 6:00 to 9:30pm; 6:00pm: no-host cocktails and displays. 7pm dinner and program

Who: The Honorable Governor Linda Lingle will be the keynote speaker and the Kahuku High and Intermediate School's “We the People Team” will be honored. The new Board of Directors will be installed: Marianne Abrigo, Bob Boyle, Karen Campbell, Ed D’Ascoli, Jane Duncan, Kalani Fronda, Norman Fujioka, Josh Heimowitz, Susan Lau, Mike Lyons, Susan Matsushima, Michael Moon, Johnny Moore, Chet Naylor, and Paul Saccoccio.

Prices: Individual tickets: $50 each for members; $60 each for non-members. Corporate Tables $500 and Sponsor Tables $1000. Tables seat eight people
