Come Enjoy the Annual Christmas Parade and Lights In Historic Hale’iwa Town

Come enjoy the Christmas parade and lights of Historic Hale’iwa Town on the North Shore Friday, December 14, 2012.

This year’s theme is “Great Leadership, Excellent Schools!” The Grand Marshall will be Randiann Porras-Tang, principal of Waialua High and Intermediate School, who was named the 2012 MetLife/NASSP Principal of the Year for being an outstanding school leader by providing high-quality learning opportunities for our students.

Over 40 units are planned for the parade, including the Royal Hawaiian Band and the two high school bands, beauty queens, horse units, hula dancers, scouts, soccer teams, a fire engine, floats, and many other units unique to the North Shore.

The parade starts at 6:00 PM at the Weed Circle roundabout, and will travel through Haleiwa Town, ending at Hale’iwa Beach Park at approximately 7:00 PM. The road will be closed for approximately one hour.

Other festivities include:

• Children of all ages can visit with Santa Claus before and after the parade, and may also have their picture taken with Santa for a donation of $5.00. Santa will be at the North Shore Marketplace under the monkey pod tree from 4:00 – 5:30 PM, and immediately following the parade from 7:30 to 8:30 PM.

• Shops will host sidewalk sales, in-store specials, demonstrations, and other great events before and after the parade.

The Chamber encourages everyone to come and shop in the unique boutiques and stores in Hale’iwa before and after the parade, and to enjoy local North Shore flavors in one of Hale’iwa’s many great restaurants. The annual parade is a great way to bring friends to this plantation-era community, supporting local businesses and in turn helping to create sustainable economic development on the North Shore.

Arrival before 5:00 PM is recommended in order to find parking in the town’s shopping centers, or at the Historic Haleiwa Gym. A flashlight and lawn chairs or blankets are also recommended. The festivities will close the main street for just over an hour, re-opening around 7:15 PM. City buses will be re-routed during this time; please plan accordingly.

Haleiwa Christmas, Parade and Event Notice

The North Shore Chamber of Commerce's annual "Christmas in Historic Haleiwa" Haleiwa Town Christmas Parade is tomorrow, December 9th .  Photos with Santa will be at the North Shore Marketplace from 4:00 to 5:30 PM before the parade and after the parade until 8:30 PM.  The parade will include up to 50 units.

The purpose of this event is to bring shoppers to your business!  We want to encourage locals to shop here while inviting the rest of the island to enjoy doing their Christmas shopping in Haleiwa also.  Support our "Buy Local" campaign by buying your Christmas gifts from fellow North Shore merchants and save on your carbon footprint too!  If we all support one another, we help create jobs for our neighbors and residents on the North Shore .

HOW MERCHANTS CAN PARTICIPATE:
·         Dress your store up in lights.  I am glad to see that most everyone has their lights up already!! The lighting is getting better and better every year.  The town really looks so festive every year!
·         Promote Photos with Santa  4:00 to 5:30 PM the night of the parade at the North Shore Marketplace and after the parade until 8:30pm.  
·         Have extended holiday store hours.  We would like to see the stores stay open until 9 PM the last two weeks before Christmas from December 9th to the 24th.  If we want to encourage North Shore residents to shop at our stores, we need to stay open at least an hour or two after they get back from work from Honolulu , which is often not until 6 PM when our stores are closing.
·         Have a sidewalk sale, in-store special, and/or demonstrations/events both nights.  This was chosen by the merchants as the best way to advertise the town.
·         Advise customers to arrive and park in Haleiwa before the parade by 5:00 pm and that it will be over around 7:30 pm to avoid not being able to get to or from your place of business due to the street closure for the parade.

Santa's Coming To Town

It's already that time of year!!  Santa will be visiting the Haleiwa Town Center this Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00pm in front of Kai Ku Hale and Scoop of Paradise.  Photos will be developed by Long's Drugs and more photos or Christmas cards can be ordered from them. 

Santa will also be available for photos at the North Shore Marketplace before and after the annual Haleiwa Town Christmas Parade.

Christmas Party Reservation Deadline is Next Friday; Parade Applications Available Now

Aloha Members,

The deadline for reservations for the Christmas Party honoring William "Bill" Paty is next Friday the 19th.  I've attached the invitation and RSVP card for your convenience if you don't have the one we mailed.  We are excited that Governor Lingle will be attending to honor Mr. Paty as well!   We hope you'll be able to come to this wonderful event!

We are seeking items for our annual auction held at this event.  A volunteer will be calling on you, if one has not done so already, to speak with you about a donation.

Also, the Christmas Parade is now in the planning stages.  Applications can be found on our website soon.  This will be the 10th anniversary of the Christmas Parade celebrating the Chamber's 25 years of serving the community!

Lighting Up Haleiwa for Christmas and Parade this Friday 6 PM

The North Shore Chamber of Commerce's annual "Christmas in Historic Haleiwa" event is on Friday, December 11th. It will consist of the Christmas parade starting at 6 PM, Photos with Santa at the North Shore Marketplace from 4:00 to 5:30 PM and after the parade until 8 PM. The parade will include up to 40 units. We also encourage the merchants to offer specials, sidewalk sales/events and demonstrations and stay open until 9:00 PM especially that night.

· Participate in the Parade. It's not too late to enter the parade. Go to www.GoNorthShore.org for more information and to apply to be in the parade by tomorrow noon. We still need at least two convertibles to carry VIP's! If you have one or know someone who has a convertible, please call me at 637-4558 or cell 342-8557.

* Be a donor. We need monetary donations of any size to help defray the costs of insurance, printing, and candy for Santa to give out, etc. Donations to the Chamber are completely tax deductible and are much needed to support our many efforts. Make your check out to the "NSCOC" and mail to the above address.

Christmas is just around the corner and we’re busy getting ready for it with our Christmas Party and the Haleiwa Town Parade. We hope that you will work with us to make the town look really festive and drive those customers into your store.

• Have extended holiday store hours. We would like to see the stores stay open until 9 PM the night of the 29th and the last two weeks before Christmas from December 10th to the 24th. If we want to encourage locals to shop at our stores, we need to stay open at least an hour or two after they get back from work from Honolulu, which is often not until 6 PM when our stores are closing.
