Industry Update #5 Tropical Storm Watch Continues for All Counties

INDUSTRY UPDATE #5
Tropical Storm Watch Continues for All Counties

Hawaii County, Maui County, Kauai County (including Niihau), and the City & County of Honolulu remain under a Tropical Storm Watch. Hurricane Ana is forecast to slowly weaken, returning to a Tropical Storm by Sunday morning and is expected to bring heavy rainfall, flash flooding, strong and damaging winds, high surf and coastal inundation across the state from Friday through Monday.

As the storm nears, we continue to encourage visitors and residents to stay out of the ocean, avoid shorelines and other outdoor activities, and heed all warnings by state and county officials. The HTA has safety tips available on their Travel Smart Hawaii website (www.travelsmarthawaii.com) in English, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Visitors currently in or traveling to the Hawaiian Islands in the coming days should continue to monitor weather reports and follow up with their accommodations and airlines to confirm reservations. Visitors should contact their airlines to confirm flight reservations prior to leaving for the airport.

The HTA will continue to monitor the storm through the weekend. Updated lists of flight delays or cancellations due to the storm, as well as closures of statewide parks, attractions and activities can be found on the HTA website athttp://hawaiitourismauthority.org/news/special-alert/.
