Ron Valenciana

Aloha Members,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to let you know that our member and editor of the North Shore News died Sunday morning.  It is a shock to many of us as he kept his illness private.  Pastor Ron did so much for our community that we will feel his absence for years to come.

He kept his fingers on the pulse of the community and communicated what was happening for at least 20 years through the North Shore News; he helped the homeless with his food bank and Once a Month Church; he started Operation Backpack and Operation Toy Box; and he was a faithful and constant supporter of HMS/Chamber over the last 15 years I've been involved with the organization.  He did this by sponsoring the Chamber through free advertising for our events, MC'ing the Christmas Party most years and helping raise money for the new building through an impromptu Bucks for Bricks drive that raised a substantial amount of money, amongst many other things.

I could always count on Ron to give me advice when I needed it and he always made the time to do so.  He was a friend to so many people in so many ways.  When we walked together along the Christmas Parade route, with which he helped me every year, I could hear so many people calling out to him and wishing him a Merry Christmas.  He was a loved and appreciated pastor to the whole community.

Aloha Ron.

Service details to be announced shortly.

Mahalo,
Antya

I am in tears after just finding out My beloved brother has passed. We met in a small Curios shop in downtown Tijuana, Mexico in 1997. From then on, we had a beautiful Friendship. He helped me out in so many was so many times. In Prayer, moral Support and even financially in hard times. He even took me and my family to Disneyland once. Came and visited every few years. Always had a word from God to share. He will always be in my heart.

I am Ron's cousin, Jim Rojas, from Whittier, California. I spent a part of my childhood at Ron's Pico Rivera house, since my parents both worked and his mother, my aunt Ruth, babysat me. I last saw Ron at his father's funeral last December. Before that time, I hadn't really talked to him as an adult, except for a few email messages with the last five years or so. I was able to talk to him in December about guitars and bass playing, the one thing I knew we shared an interest in besides our faith in Christ. It is was with great sadness that we received the news of his passing. We knew he was sick, because he fell extremely ill during a visit to the Irvine, CA, while house sitting for someone there. I am glad that I was able to speak to him and know that he was doing such great things for the Lord on Oahu's North Shore.
