HALEIWA, OAHU, HAWAII – March 27, 2013 – Registration is open for the North Shore Chamber of Commerce’s 5th Annual Business Expo Friday, May 10 at Turtle Bay Resort.  The event is sponsored by Turtle Bay Resort, Hawaii Human Resources, Kamehameha Schools, First Hawaiian Bank, North Shore News, American Savings and Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.

Primarily an educational and networking opportunity for the North Shore business community, this year’s Expo is emphasizing informing businesses about upcoming changes for which they will need to prepare.  One of the biggest changes will be the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act known as Obama care (ACA) which will go into effect January 1, 2014.
The Expo begins at 8:00am with registration, then a panel discussion on “The New Health Care Law and What It Will Mean to You” will kick-start the day off.  The panel will include Tom Matsuda ACA Implementation Manager from the Governor’s office, Rose Hughes from the Hawaii Health Connector, Mike Cheng, Senor VP of HMSA, Matt Delaney CEO of Hawaii Human Resources, and Dr. Christopher Flanders Executive Director of the Hawaii Medical Association.  The panel will look at the impact of the reform legislation starting from a macro policy view to the micro level of patient care.
A full day of seminars will be presented including topics covering Marketing, Social Media, Tax Changes, New Food Safety Laws, Managing Multiple Priorities, Implementing the ACA, Surviving the Economic Downturn, and possibly others. A continental breakfast, lunch and cocktail reception following the Expo will be included in the registration fee.
