Ron Valenciana

Aloha Members,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to let you know that our member and editor of the North Shore News died Sunday morning.  It is a shock to many of us as he kept his illness private.  Pastor Ron did so much for our community that we will feel his absence for years to come.

He kept his fingers on the pulse of the community and communicated what was happening for at least 20 years through the North Shore News; he helped the homeless with his food bank and Once a Month Church; he started Operation Backpack and Operation Toy Box; and he was a faithful and constant supporter of HMS/Chamber over the last 15 years I've been involved with the organization.  He did this by sponsoring the Chamber through free advertising for our events, MC'ing the Christmas Party most years and helping raise money for the new building through an impromptu Bucks for Bricks drive that raised a substantial amount of money, amongst many other things.

I could always count on Ron to give me advice when I needed it and he always made the time to do so.  He was a friend to so many people in so many ways.  When we walked together along the Christmas Parade route, with which he helped me every year, I could hear so many people calling out to him and wishing him a Merry Christmas.  He was a loved and appreciated pastor to the whole community.

Aloha Ron.

Service details to be announced shortly.

Haleiwa Arts Festival is This Coming Weekend July 21st-22nd

Aloha Members,
The 15th annual Haleiwa Arts Festival is this coming weekend. Stop by the Main Street/Chamber's booth to say hello and take one of the historical bus tours of the area. Tours are 11:00am, 12:30, 2:30, and 4:00pm.  Our local historians/docents narrate the tours and you get to go off-road to some interesting sites!
Hope to see you there!
